Conversations And Guidance That Spark Insight and Support Your Next Steps
Your Partner in Professional Growth
Reflect. Grow. Lead.
I offer support and understanding that honors where you’ve been, strengthens where you stand, and shapes where you’re going.
I listen first and offer guidance second. I support midwives to reflect with clarity, grow their capability and professional presence and lead with compassion and cultural safety. My work aims to strengthen practice, unpack experiences and nurture sustainability.
Kay Jones Midwifery Consultancy
About Kay
Kia ora, I’m Kay Jones. I’m a midwifery educator, bereavement care consultant, and supervisor who has spent more than twenty eight years walking alongside whānau, midwives, educators, and health organisations as they navigate the complexity and responsibility of care. My work is grounded in manaakitanga, dignity, and whanau‑led practice - values that shape every conversation, every clinical setting, and every learning space I help create.
As a midwife, I found myself increasingly drawn to the deeper layers of practice: how we learn, how we reflect, how we hold space for others, and how we design environments that support safety, connection, and healing. This led me into postgraduate study, including work in professional supervision and education, which strengthened my ability to support practitioners through reflective dialogue, values‑based leadership, and professional growth.
My academic journey continued with a PhD, where I explored the lived experiences of termination of pregnancy in the second trimester of pregnancy. That work continues to shape how I support whānau, colleagues and organisations today - helping teams understand complexity, build capability, and create care environments that honour the people they serve.
Through Kay Jones Midwifery Consultancy, I partner with midwives, educators, services, and organisations to support professional growth, develop culturally safe bereavement care pathways and create trauma‑informed environments. I specialise in transforming difficult or sensitive topics into care philosophies that feel gentle and mana‑enhancing.
I believe supervision and reflective practice should strengthen your professional presence, not add pressure. And I believe that culturally safe, trauma‑informed care is not a checklist — it’s a way of being with people.
If you’re looking for support that blends expertise with warmth, evidence with humanity, and structure with creativity, I’d love to connect.

Critical Incidence debriefing
Critical Incidence Debriefing (60mins) $180
Offers a gentle trauma‑informed debrief is a slow, spacious conversation held after a challenging clinical event — one that honors the emotional, cultural, and relational weight of what occurred. Its purpose is not to dissect performance, but to restore safety, reconnect you to your professional identity, and make meaning of the experience in a way that protects wellbeing.
The conversation unfolds slowly, with permission to pause, breathe, or sit in silence.
It offers to help you process and normalize the physical and psychological reactions that follow trauma exposure, encouraging you to reflect on the event and its impact.
Reflective conversations
Reflective conversations - (60 mins) $120
Sometimes you just want to discuss and reflect on a thought or an idea…
Sometimes a thought arrives quietly - in the car, in the shower, between births, while eating your lunch - and it doesn’t need an answer so much as a place to stretch out.
Reflection isn’t always about problem‑solving. Often it’s about putting words to your own thinking - giving an idea the dignity of being explored rather than dismissed.
This conversation gives you time to pause, reflect, gather your thoughts and ponder possibilities.
Burnout Recognition & well-being planning
Custom Workshop Design. Guest Lecturing
Burnout recognition & wellbeing planning -(60 mins)$120
Package of 2 sessions (2 × 60 mins) $210
Burnout recognition and well-being planning matter deeply in midwifery because the work asks so much of the heart, the nervous system, and the spirit.
Burnout thrives in silence. Reflective conversations give you a place to name what’s heavy, make sense of complex emotions, and reconnect with your own passion.
Together we will gently explore what it means to be experiencing burnout and how you might be able to move past it to a place of well-being.
